Government Ashram System School–
With the objective of providing education to the poor students of scheduled castes, 6 Government Ashram System Schools have been established by the department.
In these schools, free facilities of accommodation, food, uniform, books etc. are being provided. At present, 5 Government Ashram System Schools are being run.Government Ashram System School Jaiti, Almora is not being operated due to lack of students from Scheduled Caste. The details of schools run by the department are as follows-

1- Government Ashram System Higher Secondary School, Betalghat- Nainital, whose approved student strength is 150, it is run in the department’s own building, in which education is being provided to students from class 6 to 10.

2-Government Ashram Vidyalaya, Rudrapur Udhamsingh Nagar, whose approved student strength is 60, is run in the department’s own building, in which education is being provided to students of class 1 to 5.

3- Government Ashram Vidyalay Srinagar-Pauri whose approved student strength is 60, at present it is being run in a rented building and departmental building is under construction. It is imparting education to students of class 1 to 5.

4- Government Ashram Vidyalaya Sakot-Chamoli whose approved student strength is 230, is run in the department’s own building, in which education is being provided to students from class 1 to 8

5- Government Ashram Vidyalaya Dehradun, whose approved student strength is 60, is run in the department’s own building, in which education is being provided to students of class 1 to 5.

6-Surendra Rakesh Adarsh Residential School, Makhanpur, whose sanctioned student strength is 570, departmental building is under construction (currently running in a rented building).
